You think you know Excel. You think you know AI. After 20 years in CRE, I can tell you most of us are wrong about both.
Ask your team to build a pivot table, nest an INDEX MATCH, or stress-test a cap rate across twenty scenarios, and watch the room get quiet.
AI is the same story. Most of us "know" AI. We've asked ChatGPT to polish an email or summarize a lease. But do we know why it confidently invents comps that don't exist? Which prompts get reliable answers, and which set us up to repeat a bad number in front of a client?
And that's just the chat window. The real shift is AI agents, which are tools that don't just answer questions but actually do the work on your behalf. They can track listings, research owners, draft outreach, and build your own deal feed while you're out meeting clients. They're powerful, and they're risky if you don't know where your data goes or what you've given them permission to do. One wrong setting and your client list, your deal terms, or your inbox is sitting on someone else's server. Used the right way, with the right guardrails, agents stay private, secure, and working only for you.
On November 6, I'm moderating the CCIM Northern California Chapter's AI Training Summit, and this is exactly what we're tackling. Qi Lopez Diaz, Azita Manson, Louis Roehrs, and Tim Vi Tran, SIOR, CCIM will take you beyond chat and show you how to put agents to work for you, safely and securely. No hype, no vendor pitches. Just practical knowledge you can use Monday morning.
Bring the questions you think are too basic to ask. Those are usually the best ones.
Friday, Nov 6 | Pleasant Hill Community Center | 10 AM to 1 PM
